Touched by An Angel
by Maya Angelou
We, unaccustomed to courage exiles from delight live coiled in shells of loneliness until love leaves its high holy temple and comes into our sight to liberate us into life. Love arrives and in its train come ecstasies old memories of pleasure ancient histories of pain. Yet if we are bold, love strikes away the chains of fear from our souls. We are weaned from...

Rolling off the glare of men
So easily
None ever taking time
To touch your broken parts
Not a single lick given to a single wound
Too busy using their tongues

Promises Like Pie-Crust
by Christina Georgina Rossetti (1830-1894)
Promise me no promises, So will I not promise you: Keep we both our liberties, Never false and never true: Let us hold the die uncast, Free to come as free to go: For I cannot know your past, And of mine what can you know? You, so warm, may once have been Warmer towards another one: I, so cold, may once have seen ...

the februarian: My mom's card just made me cry. →
thefebruarianandco:
I’ve never cried because of a card, but it’s so easy, in this cold world, to remember that people do love you exactly as you are & think you’re beautiful with all of your flaws & are inspired by you. I never thought in a million years that my growth and struggle could inspire her because in this…

Broken?
sheedemilio:
There was a time
When All the King’s horses
And all the king’s men
Knew not of what to make of me
and my Dumpty skin.
So they left me for broken,
But maybe I wasnt broken,
Maybe I was just beginning to hatch.
An Interview with Rasheed Copeland
What was your first slam experience like?
My first slam experience was very impromptu. My first time witnessing a slam was also my first time competing I’m one. It was against nearly everyone in the DC area who’s inspired me. I wound up getting a time penalty which knocked me from first place to no place. It didn’t even matter though, the feeling was unmatched.
What music that...
